Admissions & Application Process, Professional Certificate Program

Please note: Rockport College curriculum for the Professional Certificate Program is currently under revision for the 2008 - 2009 academic year. Please visit this site or contact the Registrar’s office at 1-877-577-770 after April 15, 2008, for any changes to academic scheduling and course information.

Who Should Attend

Applicants must have at least 2 years of college experience or equivalent professional experience and be over 21 years of age. Previous image-making education or workshops is advisable. The pace over the 30 weeks is demanding and requires a high degree of motivation, self-direction, and the ability to set goals and to work independently to achieve those goals. A portfolio or reel review is required prior to admission. We strongly encourage a personal interview, campus tour and portfolio review. Phone interviews are acceptable once a selection of work has been mailed in for review.

New Media applicants must show evidence of competency in basic applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark or PageMaker in their portfolio, VHS tape or CD. Applicants who lack fundamental Macintosh and application skills are required to complete a 2-week "crash course" just prior to the start of the fall term.
